Saudi Arabia Gives Highest Honour to Field Marshal Asim Munir

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, received Saudi Arabia’s highest national honour. The award highlights the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. During his official visit, he met Saudi Minister of Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman. Under a Royal Decree issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class was conferred on Field Marshal Asim Munir. The medal recognizes his distinguished military service, leadership, and central role in enhancing defence cooperation. It also acknowledges his contributions to strategic coordination and institutional linkages between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The award reflects both his professional excellence and long-term commitment to bilateral relations.

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, delivered a significant address to officers of all three armed services at the newly established Defence Forces Headquarters, terming the development a historic transformation in Pakistan’s defence structure.

He emphasized that evolving regional threats make it essential to enhance multi-domain operations under a unified and integrated command system. He said the establishment of the Defence Forces Headquarters marks a crucial step toward this transformation.
